Act 4, Scene 1

While I was taking a walk today, I noticed that a lot of people were whispering and had shocked faces, I asked someone what had been going on and what I heard was really shocking! Paris was marrying Juliet on Thursday! Can you believe it? I mean, I thought Romeo was married to Juliet. Now I hear that Juliet is going to marry Paris! Verona is becoming a very strange place. So many questions were going through my head at this point. Does Romeo know about this? How can Juliet agree to such a marriage? Should I write a letter to Romeo explaining what is happening? I did not know which question to answer first. I did not know what to do, so I went to see the holy friar. When I got to the church, I saw the friar talking to Juliet. I did not want anyone to see me so I quickly hid. I overheard Juliet telling Friar Laurence that she did not want to marry Paris, and that she wants to kill herself. I then heard the Friar tell Juliet to calm down because he has a plan. He handed her a bottle, and told her that if she drank the potion tonight then she would appear dead and then her wedding would be cancelled. Then the Friar told Juliet that he would write a letter explaining everything to Romeo, and that Romeo would then come to take Juliet to Mantua, where they can live their lives in peace. I quickly ran, because Juliet was walking toward the doors. I was so confused and shocked about all the news, I could not go speak to the Friar.

"Love give me strength! and strength shall help afford."

I think Juliet said this because she fears that the plan may not work, so she asks love to give her strength to make the plan work. I feel that this shows that Juliet really loves Romeo. I think by willing to sacrifice everything for Romeo, by faking her death, and leaving her family and friends back to live with Romeo in Mantua, shows that she truly loves him. I also think that if this plan does not work, then great chaos will be made and the ancient grudge between the family will only get stronger.
